She is a distinguished academic with publication in the Indian Journal of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy titled “Effectiveness of Artificial horse riding on postural control in Spastic Diplegic- RCT”. She is also certified in Manual Therapy convened by The University of Melbourne, internationally recognized qualification in hands-on Manual Therapy. For better care of her patients, Dr. Lorraine places a strong emphasis on Continuous Education. She is certified in Advanced Neuro-Developmental Therapy (NDT) by NDTA, USA. She is certified in Autism Intervention and she is passionate about her work with children with Autism. She is certified in Sensory Integration by USC, USA. She has also attended various workshops in Sensory Integration, Kinesiology Taping, Myofascial Release etc. Though she specializes in Early Intervention in high risk infants and Paediatric Physiotherapy, her broad range of clinical expertise includes sports injuries, orthopaedic conditions, pre/post-surgical rehabilitation, and neurological conditions. She is a certified Matrix Health partner. She is certified in Dry Needling, Cupping Therapy and Taping. She has also conducted various Community Based Rehabilitation programs.
After working at various prestigious institutions, she has set base in her home state, Goa. Dr. Lorraine’s passion is to bring quality therapy to a large population ranging from high risk infants to children with special needs to adults, sports professionals and elderly as she strongly believes “Quality of Life Matters” has led to the foundation of HOPE Physiotherapy Clinic, Paediatric and Adult Rehab on 15th August 2011 at Saligao. Over the years the clinic has grown and on 15th August 2021 the Saligao clinic shifted to a bigger setup at Calangute. On 15th August 2022 the second state-of-the art Clinic at Corlim was launched. Both clinics are equipped with latest equipment and a multi-disciplinary team across the spectrum that offers therapy professional team that provide a holistic approach which includes Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Developmental Paediatric consultation, with the main focus to provide highest quality of treatment.
Dr. Lorraine Fernandes is an empanelled consultant with various hospitals around Goa where she provides in-patient Physiotherapy for intensive care neonates, paediatrics and Adults and recovering patients.
When she is not in the clinic, Dr. Lorraine enjoys spending time with her family. She has an adventurous spirit. Her favourite activity includes swimming, trekking, exercising and Mixed Martial Arts.
