What is Special Education?
Special Education is a system of education designed to serve the needs of children with atypically development or with learning difficulties. The Special Educator focuses on individual learner and his/her overall development using instructional strategies such as accommodations and modifications for the betterment of each learner considering their likes and dislikes. Individual child centred approach is implemented.

How is Special Education different from mainstream education?
Main stream education is provided to typically developing children. It does not involve a child centred approach. All students are expected to follow the same syllabus and instructions.

What does Special Education focus on?
Special Education focuses on improving:
Life skills
Academic skills
Attention skills
Reading and writing
Hands on activities
Fine and gross motor skills

At HOPE, the special educator first conducts a assessment to form a base line of the child’s current skill level and accordingly forms goals and plans activities to meet the goals.
